Hitting a HOMA!

Baseball's Live Ball Era "Hall of Maximum Achievement"

Roberto Clemente

Fine Tuning Achievement

The Secret Sauce 2.0 PED Users

The original version of the Hall of Maximum Achievement (HOMA) relied on Peak WAR and career OPS+/ERA+ for its basis. To be truer to its name, this 2.0 HOMA version emphasizes only peak measures that are in relation to the entire group of major league players (i.e. not replacements). This updated version uses Peak WAA (Wins Above Average) and the combo stat Peak OPS+ and Peak Rfield+ (named Peak O&D) for position players and Peak WAA and Peak ERA+ for pitchers, with some adjustment for modern day relief pitcher appearances.

The various peak scores are finally scaled and weighted (70-30 Peak WAA to Peak O&D for position players and a 2 to 1 ratio Peak WAA to Peak ERA+ for pitchers) to come up with a final HOMA score.

An additional HOMA-C score takes account of championship series play. Final scores of 99 or greater quality players for induction into either the Hall Of Maximum Achievement or its related championship version, HOMA-C.

Hittin' A HOMA has been brought to you by Don Sobocinski- a lover of the game and an occasional, very limited, software maven. Much thanks to Baseball-Reference for their incredible work that is the basis for the site's statistics. As for this place, thanks for stopping by! And feel free to use after you peruse.
